June 22nd, 2017Self Portrait Art in Watercolor
March 14th, 2017During the month of February, the Elementary class made a watercolor resist self portrait for Art! This is how we did it…. We started off by drawing hearts with an oil pastel and we incorporated different patterns into the hearts. Once we perfected our hearts we went over them with watercolors, and WOW the watercolors did not affect the oil pastels! At the end, a silly “kissy” face was added on top to add to the festiveness.
This is definitely an art project to add to your list to try at home
To try it at home you will need:
Materials
- Oil pastels
- Watercolors
- Watercolor paper
- Paintbrush
- Cup of water
Directions
- Draw any design or picture you’d like using the oil pastels. If your child prefers sketching their picture in pencil first and then going over it with the oil pastels, that works too!
- Paint over the oil pastel picture with watercolors.
- Let it dry and display your awesome art!
