Toddlers Spooning Work

April 4th, 2017 by mcountrydayblogs Leave a reply »

Each week in our  Montessori toddler classroom we work to to develop the movements and hand control needed for manipulating a spoon. This work helps promote fine motor skills, pincer grip and assists children with their development of concentration and independence.

During the month of February, We took some of the Valentine materials and incorporated them into our work. We had the child move the small heart shapes from one bowl to another, with the goal of  doing so as quietly as possible.

This is an easy take home idea for your child. You can use any objects, beans, rice, holiday items, etc., to let your child work on his Practical Life skills.
